The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Their style, rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, glam, and rhythm and blues, which has inspired many subsequent rock artists. Perry and Whitford returned to the band in 1984 and the group. Aerosmith is an American hard rock band, sometimes referred to as 'The Bad Boys from Boston' and 'Americas Greatest Rock and Roll Band'. Peaking at number 32, it failed to match the performance of Night in the Ruts. The new lineup of Aerosmith released Rock in a Hard Place in 1982. As Aerosmith regrouped with new guitarists Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay, the band released Aerosmiths Greatest Hits in late 1980 the record would eventually sell over six million copies. Nice quiet pressing and decent mastering overall especially considering the multiple sources for creating this compilation. Lacking a little bass on some songs but that’s what the EQ is for.

The only questionable selection is the forgettable "Remember (Walking in the Sand)," but nine of the songs are bona fide classics - "Dream On," "Same Old Song and Dance," "Sweet Emotion," "Walk This Way," "Last Child," "Back in the Saddle," and "Draw the Line." The 1980 compilation Aerosmith's Greatest Hits remains one of the most popular and enduring best-of collections by any rock band, selling nearly ten million copies in the U.S.
